Emerging from the laboratories of Crown Diamond Paints (now Sherwin Williams) in Montreal as well as from ReDev Ltd of Toronto; set out on their own as Halliday/Armstrong Ltd. They would become staples in their industry and renouned for their product formulations that include latex paints, coatings, ashphalt membranes, fibre reinforced plastics and most recently: concrete faced insulation (CFI Panels).
Dow chemical first approached the company in 1979 looking for a continuous insulated skin of ultra high strength concrete to compliment their line of insulation products. Following successful formulations for Dow, the founding partners of Halliday/Armstrong went on to form a new company focused only on cementitious building envelope products. Thermo-Shield was incorporated in 1985.
Over the next four years we worked with firms Lafarge, Trow and Dow cooperatively to further develop the technology until they faced some budget restraints and the project was no longer feasible.
We continued our research and development until the death of George Halliday in 1993. He was not only our founder but also the last surviving member of the original group of chemists of 1979. Before his death, George would begin a culture shift within the architectural community, sharing his knowledge and love for improving building products through the promotion of concrete faced continuous insulation panels.
Improved thermal performance with shiplapped xps, hemp fibre, mineral wool or any insulation board required.
